Black Whiskey began life in mid 2007 as the pet project of Roxy Black (Alan Goodluck) and Stacii Foxx (Kelsey Stubborn) having left their previous band, Dirty Diamonds. Black Whiskey boasts a striking visual stage presence combining the antics of Guns and Roses, the glam looks of Motley Crue and the kick arse vocal melodies of the 80′s era.
As the inspiration and main song writer for Black Whiskey Roxy Black penned their first song ‘Too Hot to Handle’ with the assistance of Stacci Foxx. To complete the line-up auditions finally introduced Damian Butler (guitarist), Mike Stein (Bass), and Josh (Drummer). Mid 2008 saw Black Whiskey performing their first live shows.
Catching the eye of Aria Hall of Famer Geordie Leach from Rose Tattoo, Black Whiskey’s first EP titled ‘On the Rocks’ was recorded. Geordie captured exactly what the band had wanted including the old school rock sound reminiscent of Rose Tattoo in ‘Addicted to Rock’. The EP was later mastered by Dave Neil.
In late 2010, Roxy Black met Dean Morrissey, drummer for Unholy Ground. Dean had been struggling to find a good vocalist to front Unholy Ground while Roxy had been struggling to find a suitable drummer. Together with Nick Mus (Guitarist), Jakey Curro (Guitarist), the new line up for Black Whiskey was born.
